FAQs

What is a sober coach or peer recovery coach?
A sober coach is someone who walks alongside you in recovery, offering accountability, encouragement, and practical tools. Unlike therapy, which dives deep into emotions and past experiences, coaching is about the here-and-now: building routines, navigating daily challenges, and creating a life that feels sustainable without substances.

How do I know if I’m ready for a sober coach?
If you’re in early recovery, leaving treatment, or simply feeling stuck and unsure how to move forward, coaching can be a great fit. You don’t need to have it all figured out — in fact, that’s where I come in. My role is to support you while you strengthen your recovery.

Do I need to already be sober to work with you?
Not necessarily. Some clients are just starting out, and others have time in recovery but want extra support. We’ll talk honestly about where you are and what feels realistic. Coaching isn’t about judgment — it’s about helping you build momentum toward the life you want.

Can I work with you if I’m also in therapy or a 12-step program?
Absolutely. Coaching is a complement to treatment and other supports, not a replacement. Many clients work with me alongside therapy, medication, or 12-step groups. The more support, the better.

What if I’ve relapsed before? Will coaching still help me?
Yes. Relapse does not mean failure — it’s part of many people’s recovery story. Coaching provides accountability and practical tools to help you recognize triggers sooner and navigate challenges in real time.

Do you work with families or loved ones too?
Yes. Recovery doesn’t happen in a vacuum, and sometimes families need support too. I can meet with loved ones to help them understand recovery, set healthy boundaries, and learn how to best support you.

Do you only work with people in Los Angeles?
I see clients across Los Angeles and Southern California in person, and I also work virtually with people in other areas. If you’re outside my area, we can still connect by phone or video.

Are you a sponsor or a therapist?
Neither. I’m a certified peer recovery coach and drug and alcohol counselor with years of professional and lived experience. I don’t diagnose, prescribe, or provide therapy. Instead, I offer practical, real-time support to keep you accountable and moving forward.

Do you take insurance?
No, coaching is not covered by insurance. It’s a private service, separate from medical or therapy models.

Why is coaching priced this way?
Coaching is highly individualized — you’re not just booking a one-hour appointment. You’re getting consistent support, accountability, and guidance tailored to your recovery journey. The pricing reflects both my training and the level of access clients receive.

What if I can’t afford a full package right now?
I offer different levels of support, from hourly sessions to more structured packages. During your free consultation, we’ll explore what feels realistic for your budget and your needs and adjust if possible.

Do I have to commit long-term?
No. Some clients only need a short boost of accountability, while others continue coaching for months. You’re free to start where you’re comfortable and adjust as you go.

Is coaching confidential?
Yes. Everything we discuss stays between us, except in situations where I’m legally required to report (like if someone is in danger). You can feel safe knowing your privacy matters to me. I provide a confidentiality agreement when you sign up.

How quickly can I get started?
Usually right away. After a free consultation, we can schedule your first session within days — sometimes even sooner if you’re ready.

What if I’m nervous about starting?
That’s completely normal. Taking the step to reach out for help is already a brave move. You don’t need to have it all figured out — just a willingness to try. My job is to meet you where you’re at.
